Overview

Leisha Davies is a registered Clinical Psychologist with local and international experience. She offers conventional talk therapy alongside breathwork, mindfulness and psychedelic-informed psychotherapy from a harm-reduction, evidence-informed perspective. She works with clients online in the UK.

Leisha Davies’ work is grounded in a person-centred, integrative stance that draws on Western and Eastern paradigms. She focuses on integrating mind, body and heart and helping people make sense of their dilemmas so they can move forward.

Best for

Leisha Davies’ practice is best suited to adults who can commit to a therapy process and who want a depth-oriented, integrative approach. Common presenting issues we work with include mood disorders, anxiety, trauma and people in recovery from addictions.

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma-related difficulties / PTSD
  • Recovery from addictive behaviours
  • Burnout and work stress

Approach

Leisha Davies’ combines evidence-based psychological models (including Schema Therapy, CBT, attachment-focused work, trauma-focused therapies and psychodynamic/self-psychology) with embodied practices such as breathwork and mindfulness. Sessions are goal-oriented and tailored to the client’s needs, and we may integrate preparatory and integration work when psychedelic-informed pathways are considered.

With regard to psychedelics, she operates from a harm-reduction and evidence-led stance. She does not undertake or supervise illegal psychedelic use. She may support or advise around medical ketamine where this is legal and clinically indicated, and this work is undertaken only following appropriate referral from a ketamine-informed psychiatrist.

Support

Leisha Davies provides a safe, non-judgemental, trauma-informed therapeutic frame with clear boundaries and confidentiality. She does not offer a crisis service; in emergencies clients are advised to contact medical services or local emergency helplines (for example SADAG in South Africa or Samaritans in the UK as listed on the site).

Support may include in-session therapeutic work, between-session exercises, breathwork or mindfulness practices, and referral pathways for medical or specialist needs when appropriate.

Practical

Sessions typically occur weekly for 50 minutes. All therapy sessions are conducted in English. The practice is located in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and she also offers online sessions for local and UK-based clients.
